How to Give a Shout-Out in TeamGPS

Recognition is at the heart of building a great workplace culture, and shout-outs in TeamGPS make it simple to celebrate your colleagues in a fun and meaningful way. 

Whether you want to appreciate someone for a job well done, acknowledge their support, or highlight how they’ve lived a company value, you can do it with just a few clicks.

In TeamGPS, there are two ways to give a shout-out:

  1. Through the TeamGPS portal

  2. Through the Teams app


1. Give a Shout-Out through the TeamGPS Portal 


Step A: Log in to TeamGPS

Log into your TeamGPS tenant with your credentials.


Step B: Open the Social Feed

Once logged in, navigate to the Social Feed section. Here, right in front of you, you’ll see the shout-out window where you can begin the process.

Step C: Add Points

Click on the “+” icon to select the number of points you’d like to attach with the shout-out.

  • You can select a preset amount from the drop-down.

  • Or, if you’d like to give a custom number of points, simply type it in manually.

  • Remember: Points are optional. You can give a shout-out without attaching points if you just want to send a message of appreciation.

⚠ Note: Before selecting points, always check your available balance under Points to Give on the right side of the screen.


Step D: Choose Recipients

Click on the Contact icon and type the first few letters of your colleague’s name to select them.

  • You can choose one colleague or multiple teammates if you want to give a group shout-out.

Step E: Select a Hashtag (Mandatory)

Every shout-out must be aligned with a company value, represented as a hashtag.

  • For example: #CustomerFirst, #Teamwork, #Innovation

  • This helps link recognition directly to your organization’s culture and values.

⚠ Note: Adding a hashtag is mandatory, you cannot skip this step.

Step F: Write a Message

Now, add a personal message for your colleague. This is where you can express your appreciation.

Examples:

  • “You went above and beyond to resolve the client issue so quickly, thank you!”

  • “Your creativity really inspired the team during the project presentation.”


Step G: Make It Engaging

To make your shout-out more fun and expressive, you can add:

  • Emojis

  • GIFs

  • Images

This helps bring more personality to your recognition.



Step H: Give the Shout-Out

Once you’ve added all details, click on Give Shout-Out, and that’s it!

Your shout-out will appear right below the shout-out window, visible to your team. This creates a public recognition moment that everyone can celebrate.



Additional Details in the Portal

On the right side of your screen, you’ll also see:

  • Points to Redeem: The total points you’ve received from others’ shout-outs. These can be redeemed for e-Gift cards or custom rewards. Points never expire, and you can accumulate them for as long as you want.

  • Points to Give: The points you get each month as an allowance from your team. These reset to zero at the end of the month and refresh on the 1st of every month. (Unused points do not carry over.)

  • Shout-Outs: A quick overview of all shout-outs you’ve given and received so far.





2: Give a Shout-Out through Microsoft Teams

If your organisation uses Microsoft Teams, giving a shout-out becomes even easier, you don’t have to log in to the TeamGPS portal every time. Once your Admin has added the TeamGPS tab in a specific Teams channel, you can start giving shout-outs directly from Teams.

Steps to Give a Shout-Out in Teams:

  1. Under Add Recipient, select the colleague you want to recognize.

  2. Under Points, drag the slider to select how many points you’d like to give (or type the number manually).

  3. Type your kudos message under Message.

  4. Select a Hashtag that best aligns with your shout-out.

  5. Click on Give Shout-Out.



That’s it! The recognition will instantly appear, and you’ll also be able to see the 4 most recent shout-outs on the left side of the shout-out window. If you’d like to view all shout-outs so far, simply click on the Posts tab.


⚠ Note: You can only redeem your points through the TeamGPS portal. Redemption options (gift cards or custom rewards) are not available within Teams.
