GPS Genie is an AI-powered assistant built into TeamGPS to make performance reviews data-driven and effortless. Instead of manually pulling information from Goals, Scorecards, or Activities, managers can now get a comprehensive, summarized view of how their team member has been performing — right within the review form itself.
For MSPs, where teams juggle multiple clients, tickets, and KPIs, having quick access to consolidated data ensures that every review reflects a balanced, factual, and time-efficient evaluation.
How to use GPS Genie in Performance reviews?
1️⃣ Step 1: Access the Review
When the review period goes live, managers head to the Performance tab on their TeamGPS tenant.
Here, they’ll see all active reviews assigned to them.
Select the relevant review and click Write Review to begin.
? Best Practice: Before you start, take a moment to skim through recent updates or milestones for your team member. This will help you phrase more pointed insights for the Genie later.

2️⃣ Step 2: Open Supporting Data
Inside the review form, you’ll find the Show Supporting Data option — a familiar feature that displays Goals, Activities, and Scorecard data for the selected employee.
Traditionally, this section helped managers back their answers with evidence, but it still required manual interpretation.
That’s where GPS Genie steps in.

3️⃣ Step 3: Tap on GPS Genie
Within the Supporting Data panel, you’ll now see a new tab: GPS Genie.
Click it, and you’ll be prompted to add your insight or question.
Think of this as talking to an intelligent assistant who already understands your system and your team’s data.
For example:
“Matt has been out of office for a few days — how has his overall performance been in the last two quarters?”
Once you submit your insight, the Genie goes to work — pulling data from across the TeamGPS ecosystem and generating a concise, fact-based summary about that individual.

4️⃣ Step 4: Review the Insights
Once you’ve added your insight or question, GPS Genie instantly processes data across multiple modules — Goals, Activities, Scorecards, Tasks, and 1:1 Meetings — to generate a consolidated, easy-to-read summary of the employee’s overall performance.
This summary provides a 360° view of how your team member is performing, both in measurable outcomes and qualitative engagement. Below is a breakdown of what GPS Genie highlights — and why each area is valuable during a review:
Recognition Highlights
- What You’ll See - Details about recognitions received and given, shout-outs, and engagement trends.
- Why It’s Important - Reflects teamwork, collaboration, and cultural impact.
Scorecard Performance
- What You’ll See - KPI progress compared against targets for the review period.
- Why It’s Important - Shows consistency, reliability, and goal alignment.
Task Overview
- What You’ll See - Snapshot of total tasks, how many were completed, pending, or overdue.
- Why It’s Important - Reflects accountability, workload balance, and time management.
Goal Progress
- What You’ll See - List of assigned goals and their statuses — Active, Completed, Overdue, or Archived.
- Why It’s Important - Indicates focus on long-term development and ability to deliver strategic results.
Meeting Engagement
- What You’ll See - Attendance and participation in 1:1 meetings.
- Why It’s Important - Demonstrates communication frequency and engagement in feedback loops.
? Best Practice: Use Genie insights to spot patterns — for instance, an employee may have high task completion but low recognition, which might indicate great output but limited collaboration. Use these cues in your review notes.
5️⃣ Step 5: Incorporate Genie’s Summary in Your Review
With the Genie’s data-driven summary in view, you can now provide more balanced, factual answers to each review question.
Instead of writing general statements like “Matt did well this quarter,” you can write:
“Matt maintained 90% task completion with strong KPI scores but had fewer recognitions this quarter. This suggests a focus on delivery but limited team engagement — an area for growth next cycle.”
Such precision makes reviews more credible, action-oriented, and trustworthy.
Why It’s a Game-Changer for MSPs?
For Managed Service Providers, time and objectivity are key. Managers handle multiple team members who may be supporting different clients, often under shifting priorities.
GPS Genie ensures that performance discussions stay factual — free from bias or selective memory. Managers get to focus on coaching and development rather than hunting for data.
? Best Practice: Encourage all managers to use GPS Genie as a standard step in every review. It builds a consistent culture of data-backed decision-making and fair evaluation.
